Hi, I’m Pilar Gómez
I'm an experienced language instructor with a passion for helping students unlock their fluency potential.
I'm an experienced language instructor with a passion for helping students unlock their fluency potential. My experience teaching adults for 14 years and my ongoing training want to serve you speak Spanish for real.
As a learner of German and English, I know the language struggle is real, especially when you start living in a country. And that is why I want to make the process as easy and practical as possible.
I help expats living in Spain understand spoken Spanish and talk without freezing so that they are able to handle everyday conversations and feel part of the community and culture.
I love what I do.
My passion is helping people overcome their fear of speaking, so that they can feel comfortable when talking and gain confidence in their ability to communicate what they want.
So that they can feel at home in Spain.

What’s my experience with languages?
I started learning English at school, then at the official school of languages and at university. I studied the language, analyzed the grammar, learned lists of vocabulary, but wasn’t able to talk. It was only when I spent time in Ireland, that I started talking.
At high school I learned German. It was a bit different, because our teacher taught us how to communicate in German and I used to spend almost every summer in Germany.
I learned German listening and reading in German, first, and then speaking and writing.
I studied English the traditional way. It cost me a lot of effort and frustration.
I acquired German in a more natural way. Learning German was easier and funnier for me.
It's not that I was bad at learning English;
it's that the method wasn't right for me.

Because there’s another way to be able to speak a language
Without frustration
That keeps you motivated
That moves you towards fluency
Based on the comprehensible input
With real-life resources
You’ll read and listen first
You’ll repeat frequent words in context and you will be able to use them in a conversation then you will be able to speak and write

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Translation and interpreting German-Spanish, a postgraduate in “Education” and another one in “Didactics for Spanish as a foreign language”. In 2019, I came across the language acquisition theory and the comprehensible input hypothesis.
I tried an approach based on this theory and that resulted very effective for the learners. They can communicate more freely and with more fluency in the language.
Since then I have continued my training based on this approach:
- Potencia, how to teach with comprehensible input and TPRS (teaching through Proficiency and storytelling, Hélène Colinet, 2024
- The Agen Workshop, worldwide comprehensible input conference, Agen, Frància, 2019, 2023, 2024
